Alexandra Benedict: Too Scandalous to Wed

Unwilling to taint any woman with the terrible secret hidden in his heart, Sebastian, Viscount Ravenswood, has sworn never to marry. Luckily, the whimsical Henrietta Ashby was never much of a temptation for the devilishly handsome rogue–until now. Suddenly, Henrietta has learned to seduce him with a bewitching charm . . . and clandestine midnight kisses. Henrietta would go to any length to catch the eye of the man she’s long loved from afar. She would even seek the help of the most notorious courtesan in England! But as Sebastian’s secret follows them from the ballroom to the boudoir, and his diabolical enemy plots revenge, will Henrietta offer him a passionate redemption . . . or will he prove to be too scandalous to wed?”

What a great title.  But I am never really sure to whom it refers to.  I suppose the heroine, who gets some lessons in lovin’ from a crusty old ex-light-skirt.  Or maybe, as the back of the book suggests, its the hero who does have a penchant for kinky stuff.

Henrietta learns to seduce her main man basically by playing hard to get.  And the diabolical enemy isn’t truly diabolical, but in any case makes for some interesting action.

I thought the book was fast paced and entertaining, and I liked that the ending wasn’t too sugary coated.  Heroes and Heroines are far better with a little egg on their face.  And these two look like a good ol’ fashioned three egg scramble at Denny’s by the end of the book.

Too Scandalous to Wed is part of a three book series (Too’s), and yes all the book covers are a little unbus friendly.  The first book in the series, Too Great a Temptation involves pirates, so I will be on the lookout.  The third book Too Dangerous to Desire involves some sort of wicked prince (plots with royals make me cringe…see Sabrina Jeffries) but it looks like she is undertaking a new series based on the characters from the first book…so perfect for you series lovers.

Well worth checking out this new author.  I am going to try and read her other books, and as always will keep you posted!
